Public Comment Sought for County’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan

Otter Tail County is currently in the process of updating its Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. Before the plan is submitted to the State of Minnesota and FEMA for approval, we need your feedback!

Please review the draft plan, in particular the mitigation actions for your jurisdiction.

The comment period is open from November 29 – December 15.

Drought Warning Restrictions

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources drought warning for the state of Minnesota. In accordance with the MN DNR Drought Plan, the City of Parkers Prairie has placed a ban on non-essential water use beginning July 23rd. These restrictions will be in effect for the City of Parkers Prairie until the drought warning has been lifted. Prohibited watering includes: watering of lawns, washing of buildings, driveways, sidewalks, or parking areas, washing of cars (except for commercial businesses)
Acceptable watering includes: watering of fruit and vegetable gardens, watering of flowers or newly planted trees, necessary use of water to protect public health, safety, and welfare. We appreciate the efforts of our residents to conserve water wherever possible. If you have questions regarding these restrictions, please call the City Hall at 218-338-4115

The Pool is Filled!

Today the Parkers Prairie Pool was filled! Opening day is Monday, June 7th. Daily hours are 1 pm to 7 pm seven days a week. Concessions are back this year! You may stop in the City Hall during office hours to purchase your single pass or family pass and sign your waiver form so you’re ready to swim on opening day!

City Wide Yard Sales

Friday, May 21st & Saturday, May 22nd, have been designated as Parkers Prairie City-Wide Yard Sale Days! If you would like to be added to the yard sale map, please return the slip that came with your newsletter or pick one up at the City Hall. To be included on the map, you will need to have your info turned in BEFORE Monday, May 17th.

City Brush Site is Open

The City brush site is once again open to residents. Stop in the City Hall, Monday through Thursday 8 am – 3 pm and Friday 8 am – 11 am to check out a key for an hour. Cost is $1 for a small load & $2 for a large load. The site will also be open on some Saturdays 1-3 pm. May 1st, 15th & 29th. June 12th & 26th. July 10th & 24th. August 14th & 28th. September 11th & 25th. All of these dates are subject to change.

Now Hiring Pool Supervisors & Lifeguards for 2021!

The City of Parkers Prairie is hiring! Pool Supervisors need to be at least 18 years of age with experience working with children of all ages. Lifeguards need to be at least 16 years of age, are dependable, responsible, friendly, and enjoy working with others in an outdoor setting. We will hold Lifeguard Certification/Re-certification classes here in Parkers Prairie for Aquatic Center employees.
